Rug cleaning on the Gold Coast

Not a small carpet
A machine-made synthetic can sometimes take a controlled wet clean. A hand-knotted wool with a cotton foundation, a viscose “silk look” from a coastal boutique, or an antique with tea-wash dyes cannot. Dusting (dry soil removal) is the unglamorous first step. Skipping it drives grit through the foundation.
Gold Coast specific risks
Balcony rugs bake in UV then get thunderstorm edges. Outdoor polypropylene is a different product from an indoor Persian. Salt air plus a cheap bleach wash is how fringes go from ivory to orange. If the rug sat under a leaking planter, treat it as water damage plus fibre ID, not a refresh.
